I am lucky. I am a happy person.

 

People who saw me growing up say I was the happiest kid. I was fortunate to have learned at home and at school the value of a comprehensive education, including the importance of taking care of the body and fundamental ethical values. This perspective helped me maintain a healthy life and achieve a profession I am proud of: artist and educator, both of which I deeply value and which define who I am: a passionate, vulnerable, caring person who believes in the power of words.

 

My life has not been without major challenges. Right after I was born, I was diagnosed with a rare blood disease, and according to the doctor I didn't have many chances to survive. Thankfully, after a month in hospital, I was ready to go home, looking as if nothing had happened. As an adult, I faced multiple challenges, the two most notorious being the death of my brother at age 29 in a tragic accident and suffering abuse from my ex-partner. These experiences had a lasting impact on my life but also provided valuable lessons, reaffirming that ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’

 

Now, at age 45, my feeling of being alive is just like when I was a kid: timeless.
